Rivers State All Progressives Congress (APC) leader, Mr Tony Cole, has alleged that Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister Nyesom Wike wants to weaken the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Naija News reported that Wike has consistently maintained that he remains a member of the PDP party despite his tenure in President Bola Tinubu’s APC government.
The 2023 Rivers State governorship candidate of the APC said it was no secret to the PDP that Mr. Wike was hostile to the party.
He made this claim while speaking on Adesuwa Giwa Osagie’s podcast ‘Untold Stories'.
Tony Cole said both his party, APC and Wike know the game they are playing. However, he added that it would be up to the main opposition party, the PDP, to address the issue.
“It is an open secret to everyone, it is not hidden. The role he is currently playing in the PDP is to weaken the PDP to the extent that there is no longer any opposition to the advancement of the APC. PDP Everyone knows it. Everyone knows it. Everyone knows it. Don’t hold on to it, it’s over there.
“But when you think about it, you’re somehow surprised. It seems like PDP is not going to do anything about it. It’s their cross,” he said.
The APC leader has dismissed allegations that he was working for the 2023 PDP presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar.
He said he financed the APC presidential campaign in Rivers State during the election period.
