Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State has said he remains committed to the ongoing infrastructure development in the state.
He said he would not give in to political intimidation by opposition parties.
The governor further accused opposition members of promoting ethnic divisions among the people.
He said this on Wednesday while commissioning the national project as part of his anniversary in office.
The governor, who stressed his focus on both soft and hard infrastructure in Osun, added that “our delivery of good governance will not be dictated by ethnic or religious considerations.” We will treat every town and city as a constituency, without fear or favor. As a senator and now as governor, I am an agent of development for all my people.
“Our administration opposes the politicization of development. Politics must be a means of development, not a means of dividing people and slowing progress. Development politics is at the heart of development. It is, and it should be.
“Our administration is determined to advance the infrastructure development of Osun State in all areas. We will not succumb to political intimidation from those who have failed our people for decades. We continue to revive projects that they have abandoned for several years.”
He assured the people of the state that resources would be spent judiciously in building and providing social amenities, while stressing that there would be no tolerance for the creation of facilities that would ease the economic and social lives of the people. .
He also maintained that the administration believes there is no limit to Osun’s great potential.
“My team and I will continue to address the social and soft infrastructure needs of our people by channeling our national resources into building roads, airports, water systems, schools, and hospitals. There is no mercy in the creation and reconstruction of institutions to improve the economic and social life of the people of Osun.
“Even if others have limited visions for the future of Osun State, our administration is ambitious and forward-looking and believes there are no limits to the greatness Osun State can achieve as a state.”
“That is the spirit behind the five-point agenda. It is the driving force behind our excellent performance over the past two years,” he added.
