Popular Nigerian musician, Timaya has revealed that he respects controversial street pop singer, Portable.
He says portables remind him of his younger self.
Timaya said this in a new interview on Channels Television.
He reportedly told 2face that when Portable was newly released, the controversial singer looked exactly like his old self.
Recalling his first encounter with portable music, Timaya pointed out their similarities.
he said: “That’s why I like ‘Portable.’ When he was new, I told 2face Idibia about him on the way to Delta State. I said, I heard about a guy named Portable. That guy was just like me, because I was a crazy guy.
“Gen Z doesn’t know about my early career, so sometimes when I talk to them, some people say Timaya is fine, he takes care of his job. I just look at them like, “If only I could.” Things have calmed down now, but back then it was really, really crazy, but I think there’s growth. That was the strategy for me at the time.”
“I bend you, I cripple you” – Portable bombing VDM assault video
Meanwhile, Portable has accused social media commentator Berry Darkman of assaulting a man at a memorial event for the late Afrobeats legend, Fela Kuti, ‘Felabration’.
Naija News reported that VDM released a video of Portable hitting a man in a toilet, expressing displeasure at the singer’s actions.
He also warned portables to stop assaulting people.
Mr. Portable responded in a video he shared on his Instagram page, saying that he can defeat VDM and called for the findings on him (Mr. Portable) to be produced in Abuja.
he said: “Online madness is different from real life madness. I bend you, I go fix you. I cripple you. I’m a one man battalion. I hold you. If… you are using Abuja to threaten me. Go to Malaba Nyanya, go to Babangida market and ask the boy in Lagos.”
Portable also described what led to the confrontation between him and the man he assaulted.
He added, “Dear fans, you knew who I was punching. We fought one on one, man to man. Collect money for up to 5 performances and give my money to 6 There’s someone who ran away for months. That guy collected money for my show. Are you my manager?
