Nigerian singer Chike Ezekpeazu Osebuka, popularly known by his stage name, has addressed the controversy surrounding his gift of one million naira to an internet troll who claimed he owed his success to the late singer Mohabado.
Recall that the 31-year-old singer handed over a whopping sum of one million naira to a troll who was mocking him after an online spat.
The singer’s actions sparked widespread criticism, with many pointing out that he was allowing more trolls to speak out on social media.
In a recent episode of the Curiosity Made Me Ask podcast, Chike revealed that his actions were motivated by anger rather than publicity.
“It wasn’t planned. I was just angry,” he said.
Chike further opened up about his hit song “Egwu”, a collaboration with Mofuvado, which was released in December 2023, three months after his colleague’s death.
According to Chike, he was initially hesitant to release the song and considered publishing it for free on his blog to honor Mohbad’s legacy. But his management wasn’t like that and released this song.
Chike also revealed that there are still many unreleased songs with Moffbad.
He said: “I think this music came out probably three or four months after his death, but if you want to talk about it, I wasn’t really trying to put the music out. But it was for management. , I have never been on the train of putting music out there.”
“What I decided earlier on was to give this song to a free blog and just give it to them so that people could hear the last work of this artist I knew before he passed away. But there are about four songs.
