Former National Vice Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Salihu Lukman, has expressed the need to have a functional political party in Nigeria.

Lukman said if the objective was simply to establish a new party that would produce candidates for various public offices, then Nigerians would end up with an opposition party that is weak and indistinguishable from the APC, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), the Labor Party (LP) and the New Party.
