Former Jigawa State Governor and founding member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Sule Lamido, has harshly criticized the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Nyesom Wike, accusing him of being used for specific political purposes. He said he is a person who is willing to do anything.
In an interview with The Sun, Lamido denied Wike’s influence within the PDP, insisting that he did not play a significant role in the party’s rise.
He further maintained that Wike’s influence in the political arena is tied only to the platform and position he occupies.
Speaking on the PDP’s political issues, Lamido said: “You know, I have never seen Wike as a political issue. I have seen Wike as a character who is willing to be used for ends. So if you look at the history of Nigeria and the rise of the PDP, Wike has no role in the PDP.
“It was an opportune time for him to run for public office, such as governor or minister. Those positions have supported him. He is simply acting on the platform of those positions. Removal of those positions. Then he will leave politics.
“Where is former Benue State Governor Ortom now? Where is former Abia State Governor now? Have you heard of them yet? Where is the G-5 today? Wike, Makinde, Ortom, Ikpeazu etc? All you hear about is Makinde and Wike.
“Makinde, yes, because he is still the governor. Before the election, who was Makinde? He was an unknown quantity. I am honest! If Wike had not become a minister today, he will go down in history. As I always say, it’s the office that speaks, not the personality. He has no political personality at all.
“His political personality doesn’t matter. It’s the office he uses to control the situation. That’s all.”
He said the APC is using Mr. Wike to cause a crisis in the party. “That is why they keep him. What I am saying is that if they fire him, he will be like Ortom.
“Look at Ortom, they were having meetings everywhere, in Barcelona, Madrid, Paris, because they were using the resources of their own offices.
“Can they meet abroad now? They cannot meet abroad now because the public office that Ortom held has been removed and Ortom has become a common man like Sule Lamido, a former governor like me. I can’t.
“He can’t speak anymore, because where is the power? So are the other two governors, Ikpeazu in Abia and Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi in Enugu. Makinde is there because he is the governor. Wike is the APC in PDP Very lucky as the machine used by.
“They have appointed him as Abuja Minister and he is their resource and that is why he is still visible and important. Is there no such person as Wike? For me, soon He will go down in political history!”
