Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed has accused President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Federal Capital Territory Minister Nyesom Wike of being behind the opposition party rocking the crisis.
In an interview with Daily Trust, he said the federal government was infiltrating the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) and Labor Party (LP) with the aim of creating a one-party state.
Commenting on the crisis rocking the PDP, Mr. Muhammad said: “As chairman of the Governors Forum, we need to be cautious when discussing internal issues. Party politics should not be reported in the media. However, despite opposing views, governors are united. I can assure you that it is unrealistic to expect 13 governors to agree on everything all the time. Personal loyalties and relationships may influence unity, but we are We are united in our determination to move forward.
“We also have to be mindful of the federal government, which seems to be trying to get its way. You can see this in the way they handle financial matters, the way they treat labor. It’s not just about the PDP. They have also infiltrated other political parties such as the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) and the Labor Party (LP) in an effort to create a one-party state. But bad governance will ultimately work in our favor.”
According to the Bauchi State Governor, the matter involving Ambassador Umar Iliya Damagumu and the National Working Committee (NWC) of the PDP has been resolved.
The PDP Governors Forum Chairman expressed confidence that the PDP can quickly resolve other crises rocking the party.
he said: I’ve talked to both sides, and some are causing problems, but it’s important to ask who is behind it. The answer is Tinubu and Wike. ”
“Mr Tinubu supports Mr Wike and Mr Wike remains with the PDP but is working with the APC. This is an unusual situation. But it is the reality,” he added.
Governor Bauchi also said that Wike, a former Rivers State governor, cannot belong to the PDP and serve in the All Progressives Congress (APC)-led government.
On mentioning that Wike had the support of the party before joining the APC government, Bala Mohammed said: That’s not how things work. According to natural justice, there is only one place to belong. You cannot be part of two opposing camps at the same time. Wike is a friend and I told him this directly and I am not afraid to say it publicly. ”
“I have nothing personal against Wike. If he had shown loyalty to the party, I would have supported him. But he has made it clear that he will not do so. Therefore, especially in 2027 We cannot stand by and let him do his thing as we build towards 2020. Some party members believe that the current NWC, led by Ambassador Damagumu, is leaning towards Wike. , that’s part of the problem.” Added.
