The World Travel Awards Africa Gala 2024 celebrates tourism excellence at Diamonds Leisure Beach in Kenya, with Tanzania and Nairobi named top winners.
Tourism royalty from across Africa gather at Diamonds Leisure Beach & Golf Resort in Diani Beach, Kenya, for the 2024 World Travel Awards Africa Gala Ceremony, pushing the boundaries of excellence and innovation. We recognized travel organizations that are pushing the boundaries.
Big winners at the VIP reception included Tanzania, which claimed the dual honors of ‘Africa’s Leading Destination’ and ‘Africa’s Leading Tourism Authority’. Its iconic Serengeti National Park has been named ‘Africa’s premier national park’ and Mount Kilimanjaro has earned the title of ‘Africa’s premier tourist attraction’.
In the new category, Angama Amboseli, a luxury tented lodge located in the heart of Kimana Reserve, Kenya’s first community-owned reserve, was named ‘Africa’s Leading New Hotel’. The St. Regis La Bahia Blanca Resort in Morocco’s Tamuda Bay has been named “Africa’s Leading New Resort.”
Diani Beach has been recognized as ‘Africa’s leading beach destination’ and Kenya’s capital Nairobi has been named ‘Africa’s leading business travel destination’. The prestigious Fairmont Mount Kenya Safari Club has been named ‘Africa’s Leading Hotel’ and Nairobi's Somerset Westview has been recognized as ‘Africa’s Leading Serviced Apartment’.
Durban continued to build its reputation as a business hub by being awarded as ‘Africa’s leading meeting and conference destination’. The Port of Cape Town has been named “Africa’s leading cruise port”.

In the aviation category, Kenya Airways was named the winner with the awards “Africa’s Leading Airline” and “Africa’s Leading Airline – Business Class”. Nairobi’s Jomo Kenyatta International Airport has been named ‘Africa’s leading airport’.
Satguru Travel has won numerous awards including ‘Africa’s Leading Leisure Travel Company’.
