The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Board of Directors (BoT), Bode George, has advised former Vice President Atiku Abubakar to abandon all plans to contest the 2027 presidential election.
On Thursday, at a press conference to mark his 79th birthday, George told Atiku to step back from racing and allow younger generations to compete.

“Now, my advice to you Mr. Atiku is this: You will be 81 years old in 2027, but you have been running for president since 1993. It is time to calm down and act like an elder. “In the name of Almighty Allah, whom you serve, I ask you to be calm and leave everything to prosperity,” Bod George said.
Earlier, Naija News also reported that the PDP leader expressed concern over the current state of the opposition party, attributing the challenge to selfish interests among party members.
George called for urgent measures to rescue the party ahead of the upcoming national convention.

Mr. George, who called for unity among the PDP, said that the founding fathers of the party who have passed away are in their graves because the PDP has “become a shadow due to the selfish interests of some party members”. He said he would be crying.
He described the situation as disheartening and pathetic, with some ostentatious members already working for the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of the 2027 elections.
