Spanning a variety of genres and themes, this diverse local content features upcoming films and series from acclaimed filmmakers including: Charles Okpaleke, Femi Adebayo, Clarence Peters, Omoni Oboli, Zebu Ejiro. Starting in October, these stories will entertain audiences to experience the richness of Nigerian culture and storytelling like never before.

Future plans for 2024 include new releases such as Hijack 93, a thriller inspired by real events, which will be released on October 25, the anniversary of the incident. Hijack 93 is the story of four young men who hijack a plane to protest Nigeria’s annulled 1993 elections. As you navigate high-stakes situations, you must balance the safety of your passengers with your own freedom. Produced by Play Networks Studios (Blood Vessel, Glamor Girls), the film features an all-star cast including: Nancy Isime. Sharon Uja. Jemima Osunde. Idia Eisen. Adam Garba. Nnamdi Agbo. Akinsola Oluwaseyi; Alison Emmanuel. Efa Iwala and John Dumelo.
“Hijack 93 is a fictional retelling inspired by the true story of a Nigeria Airways plane that was hijacked by Nigerian teenagers in 1993. Some historical events like this tend to disappear before the next generation knows about them. As a filmmaker, my focus is to get the world to see the true story of Africa.” says Charles Okpaleke, producer and co-founder of Network Studios.
