Buba Galadima, a prominent member of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), has confirmed that the party’s 2023 presidential candidate, Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, will serve as the vice-presidential candidate of the former Labor Party (LP) president. He refuted the claim that he was willing to do so. The candidate is Peter Obi.
Naija News reported that Mr Galadima, a political associate of Mr Kwankwaso, offered this explanation in response to reports arising from a recent interview with the former NNPP presidential candidate.
Mr. Galadima expressed disappointment that some media outlets misunderstood Mr. Kwankwaso’s position on the possibility of becoming Mr. Obi’s running mate, adding that Mr. Kwankwaso would consider this option in the 2027 presidential election. He pointed out that he has not done so and has no plans to consider it.
He stressed that the NNPP presidential candidate is well prepared to take office in 2027, adding that if elected, Kwankwaso will have the political acumen and intellectual capacity needed to address Nigeria’s challenges. He claimed to have both.
Mr. Galadima emphasized that during the interview, Mr. Kwankwaso outlined his political and intellectual qualifications, which he believed gave him a significant advantage over politicians like Mr. Obi.
He further suggested that Peter Obi should consider joining the Kwankwasiya movement to free Nigeria from the burden of incompetent leadership.
“The NNPP presidential standard-bearer is far ahead of the former Anambra State governor in everything. Therefore, to say that Mr. Kwankwaso will serve as Mr. Obi’s running mate in the next three years is against such speculation. is baseless and kind of relegates him to the background.
“For those who listened to the interview and understood clearly, Senator Kwankwaso’s statement was meant to humiliate Peter Obi, not the other way around,” Galadima told PM News.
