On December 7, 2024, the 5th edition of “Concerts with the Poor”, an event that combines artistic beauty and social solidarity, will be held in the Paul VI Hall in Vatican City. This year, special participants include Oscar-winning composer Hans Zimmer, renowned cellist Tina Guo, and composer and priest Msgr. Marco Frisina and composer Dario Vero.

“Concert with the Poor” is more than just a musical event. It is a symbol of unity and charity. This time, 8,000 people will attend the concert, including 3,000 poor guests from different languages and religions who will be special guests of the event. These guests, selected through the Charities Office and various volunteer organizations, will be provided with a to-go dinner and other comfort services at the end of the concert.

Hans Zimmer is known for his unforgettable soundtracks for films such as “The Lion King,” “Gladiator,” “Pirates of the Caribbean,” “Interstellar,” and “Pearl Harbor.” During the concert, Zimmer will alternate on stage with Ms. Zimmer, introducing her most famous works. Marco Frisina will direct some of the compositions for the religiously themed film. The participation of Tina Guo, one of the most prolific cellists in the film and video game industry, will add a special atmosphere to the evening.

Tina Guo has collaborated with Hans Zimmer many times and is known for her versatility as a cellist and composer. Her collaborations include the Wonder Woman soundtrack and participation in international events such as the League of Legends World Championship and Comic-Con.
Composer and conductor Dario Vero has worked on a variety of institutional and cinematic projects. Collaboration with the “Kiev Virtuosi” orchestra and participation in such works as “Mission: Impossible” highlight his talent and versatility.

The Nova Opera Orchestra, made up of top Italian and European musicians, performs a wide repertoire ranging from classical music and opera to movie soundtracks. It was founded in 1984 as the choir of the Diocese of Rome. Frisina is celebrating its 40th anniversary and has participated in numerous liturgical and cultural events in Italy and abroad.
A day of encounters and unity
The day will begin with a private audience for Pope Francis and Nova Opera artists and partners, highlighting the importance of this event in promoting the values of solidarity and inclusion. Organizations such as Caritas of Rome and Lazio, the Community of Sant’Egidio and the Circolo San Pietro will collaborate in this event to ensure that those most in need receive the support and dignity they deserve.

Participation in “Concert with the Poor” is by invitation only, and registration will be available on the official event website starting November 18, 2024. Invitation tickets will be sent via email, include a QR code, and must be presented at access control on the day of the event.
