The 7th annual China Now Festival opened Saturday at Carnegie Hall in New York City with a groundbreaking focus on AI-driven music.
“Music serves as a great lubricant in U.S.-China relations. Music is a form of cultural exchange and a connection between hearts and minds,” said Tsai Jindong, the festival’s artistic director, at the U.S.-China conference held before the opening concert. Said at the Chinese Music Forum.
Composers discussed the growing role of AI in music at the forum, providing the audience with fresh insights into this new frontier.
“China’s rapid development over the past 30 years has given us the opportunity to explore new frontiers in music creation through AI technology,” Tsai said.
The festival, co-sponsored by the U.S.-China Music Institute at Bard College of Music and the China Central Conservatory of Music (CCOM), will run until October 19 and will feature three concerts and a music forum.
