Spotify has announced that it is expanding its music video beta feature, which allows users to switch between video and standard views, to additional markets.
Spotify introduced music videos in beta earlier this year and now announced an expansion, bringing the feature to an additional 85 markets. The move demonstrates Spotify’s commitment to improving the user experience by blending audio and visual content.
What is Spotify Music Video Beta?
This feature allows some premium users to switch between the standard Spotify playback view and the music video view for tracks with available videos by selecting the “Switch to video” option.
Main features
Key features of Spotify music videos include versatile viewing modes that allow you to watch in both portrait and landscape orientation by simply rotating your device. When you switch to music video mode, the audio will automatically sync with the video version and replace the original track. Additionally, Spotify provides recommendations based on currently watched videos, helping listeners find relevant videos.
Spotify shared some encouraging statistics about the impact of its music video feature.
Listeners who watch a music video are 34% more likely to revisit the release within a week. Songs discovered in music videos are 24% more likely to be saved or shared by users who watch the video.
These numbers show that integrating music and visual elements can drive engagement and fan interaction.
This feature is still in beta, but only a limited number of streamers can upload music videos to Spotify. Unfortunately, RouteNote doesn’t currently offer music video distribution, but if we want to expand this in the future, we’ll let you know on the RouteNote blog.
