On Wednesday, October 23rd, The Colorado Sound will be participating in the 5th Annual Public Radio Music Day. This event brings together nonprofit music stations, artists, legislators, fans, and other music industry and community members to recognize public radio’s important community. We serve and play a unique role in the world of music, both locally and nationally.
Colorado Sound, a public radio music station, joins the noncomMUSIC Alliance and public radio music stations across the country in commemorating this milestone.
So many of the artists we play have found success because of public radio, whether it’s through national stations like NPR Music or stations like ours.
Public Radio Music Day is also an opportunity to highlight the challenges we face, including complex music copyright laws that can hinder the ideal listener and user experience.
The theme for Public Radio Music Day 2024 is “Bringing People Together: Coast to Coast,” highlighting how music brings communities together through music discovery, music education, and support for local arts economies. The purpose is
And that resonates strongly with us. Not only do we produce many artists right here in Colorado, but we are continually working to build community and “bring people together” through music. Examples include the annual Colorado Sound Music Awards, quarterly music meetings, partnerships with numerous venues and organizations, and a growing community of Colorado Sound listeners and members.

Many of the artists we perform create music that can only be heard on public radio, whether in Colorado or elsewhere in the world. And that’s another big reason why we celebrate Public Radio Music Day.
