Former Democratic Alliance (AD) leader, Babatunde Oduyoye, has revealed that Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde is not trying to contest the 2027 presidential election through indirect means.
Mr. Oduyoye in a recent statement stressed that contrary to the prevailing rumors, Governor Makinde is yet to make a clear declaration regarding his presidential ambitions.
Makinde, who served as Special Assistant on Strategic and Political Affairs during his first term, described the governor as a thorough planner who takes such important decisions with careful consideration.
He noted that the governor’s usual strategic political maneuvering was not evident, suggesting that rumors of Makinde seeking the presidency may be premature.
Oduyoye said, “I have read reports that Governor Makinde has declared his presidential ambitions for 2027, but I have never read an article that quotes the governor’s exact words.
“I know Governor Makinde and I know what he would do if he was interested in running for president. So far, the governor has not done anything like that. I’m sure it comes from good intentions.
“Governor Makinde is never one to shy away from a challenge and he has no intention of entering the presidential race through the back door. He is not a coward. I know him and I know what he will do when the time comes. I know.”
