The Kogi State Independent Electoral Commission (KOSIEC) has officially declared candidates of the All Progressives Congress (APC) as winners of all 21 local government chairmanships and 239 councilor positions in the elections held on Saturday. did.
KOSIEC Chairman Mamman Ndaeri announced the results at a press conference in Lokoja, stressing that the elections were peaceful, free, fair and credible.
Among the notable outcomes of the election was the election of a female chairperson in the Ogori-Magongo Local Government Area, an important achievement for women’s representation in the state’s political landscape.
Mr Ndaeri praised the electoral process and the active participation of voters for contributing to the success of the election.
He reiterated the Commission’s commitment to maintaining the integrity of the electoral process in future elections.
“The APC performed brilliantly, winning all the chairpersonships and councilorships, leaving nothing behind the other 18 political parties that participated in the election.
“The results at the headquarters were declared earlier at various collation centers by the respective returning officers.
“As Chairman of KOSIEC, I hereby confirm the results previously collated and returned by the Returning Officer,” he said.
Mr Ndaeri expressed gratitude to election officials, security agencies, observers and journalists who contributed to the success of the elections.
