Speaker of the House of Representatives Tajudeen Abbas said Nigeria will need $3 trillion in investments over the next 30 years to bridge infrastructure gaps, particularly in road networks, electricity supply, housing, health care and education.
Speaking at the groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of an access road from Ring Road No. 1 to the Judges’ Quarters in the Katanpe area of Abuja, the Speaker, represented by the Vice-Chairman, Mr. Benjamin Okezie Kalu, noted the country’s increasing infrastructure needs. .
He said the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) faces even greater challenges as the population grows by 5% annually, putting additional pressure on existing facilities.

Abbas praised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration for prioritizing infrastructure development.
He also assured that the National Assembly is committed to passing legislation to strengthen governance in the FCT and approving a budget that will enable the delivery of meaningful infrastructure projects, including the ongoing road construction.
The FCT Minister, Barrister Nyesom Wike, expressed gratitude to the National Assembly for its consistent support to the FCT administration and swift approval of the FCT Diversion Act.
Mr Wike further promised that the access road to the judges’ quarters and other internal roads would be completed by May next year, the second anniversary of President Tinubu’s inauguration.
He also assured the contractor of sufficient funds to complete the work in a timely manner.
