Ekiti State Governor Biodun Oyebunji has said he is not worried about instigation by politicians ahead of the 2026 gubernatorial election in the state.
Naija News reports that Mr Oyebunji spoke on Friday night at Ado Ekiti, a monthly evening of praise and worship held at Jibou Hall, Government House Grounds.
Oyebanji said he would not be able to sleep during the election period and advised politicians to stop sending such text messages, stressing that he was committed to good governance and fulfilling campaign promises.
He expressed confidence in God’s ability to work things out in his favor in 2022, and that the God who did it for him in 2022 will do it again in 2026. He insisted that he would give it to me.
Mr. Oyebunji attributed the great strides his administration has recorded across key sectors in the state to divine intervention despite the economic realities, saying, “My focus remains on delivering good governance and working with the people of Ekiti. It’s about fulfilling our promises.”
He said, “My belief is that God's plan supersedes any human plan. I will not lose sleep over developments because God is in control.” The future is in God's hands and He has never let me down.
“What God does not give to man, man cannot have it, and when God decides, no one can stop him. So I am saying this: 2026 Because I want you to stop sending me text messages expressing your anxiety about the year.
“God is in control of everything, including the year 2026 that many people are worried about. Let’s go.
“For those of you texting me every day worrying about 2026, don’t worry. The God who did it last time will do it again. Don’t worry about it. Some people complain that I’m not a politician and don’t understand politics. I don’t care about this, I serve the God of peace, so anything that disturbs my peace. There is nothing.”
