Elhiatake Ibori-Suenu, daughter of former Delta State governor James Ibori, has announced her defection from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
His Highness Elhiatake Ibori Suenu is a member of the House of Representatives for the Ethiopia East/Ethiopia West constituency.
The daughter of Chief James Ibori, in her resignation letter read out by the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas, cited problems within the PDP leadership.
In a letter addressed to the PDP Chairman of Ethiopia Western Council Region on Thursday, December 5, Mr. Ibori Suenu specifically mentioned the exclusion by the party’s Delta State branch as one of the reasons for his resignation.
The letter was titled “Notice of Ministerial Resignation.” Elhiatake Ibori-Suenu as a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).”
“With this notice, I am informing you that I am officially resigning as a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) with immediate effect.In order to facilitate my complete dissociation and withdrawal from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), I am writing the attached I surrender my Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) membership card (membership number 0777144).”
Ibori-Suenu explained that the exclusion of Delta State PDP by the national leadership and the crisis affecting the national leadership shows the inability of the party to protect her interests.
