Fouad oki, former vice-president of the Lagos State Branch of the Lagos State Congress (APC), urged party leaders to halt the ongoing media fight over former chairman of Lagos State Congress MP Mudasir Obasa. I did.
Oki warned that ongoing controversy and internal discrepancies could pose a serious threat to the stability of the party and distract attention from governance and the provision of democratic dividends to Lagos residents.
In a letter addressed to the Governance Advisory Committee (GAC), the highest decision-making body of the APC in Lagos led by Tajdine Orsi, Oki stated that he needed to overcome the crisis and focus on the party’s core responsibility. I emphasized.
The letter entitled “Re: Lagos Speakership: It’s time to stop all the shenanigans surrounding the change in Reasusterial Saga,” urged party leaders to reconsider what it means to extend the controversy.
“We encourage you to consider the implications of extending this discord, not allowing our internal disagreements to obscure our larger goal of serving Lagos State and Nigeria as a whole. Let’s do it.
“The strength of our party lies in its ability to adapt, listen and unite for the common good,” Oki said.
Oki admitted that the removal of Obasa may have been a surprise to many party leaders and members, but insisted that the decision had already been made and should be accepted.
He said, “It is probably important to acknowledge that he failed to engage with party leaders prior to this decision.
“But we have to realize that a decision has been made and it stands as a fait aumfori.”
He appealed to the leadership of the GAC to ensure that the House of Representatives of Lagos can operate independently, rather than allowing the House of Representatives of Lagos to further bias the party.
Oki added, “In light of this, I appeal to your compassion and wisdom to allow the Congress to be independence worthy of it. This situation further polarizes the parties already working on internal unity. You must not allow it.”
Naija News reports that Oki said the decision to remove Obasa and replace it with Mojisola Meranda has gained support across various sectors in the state, including traditional rulers, civil society groups and human rights groups .
He said, “It is important to recognize that the decisions made by the Lagos Congress have attracted important support from various sectors of society, including traditional, social and human rights communities.”
