Kora Orogungbondhyan, a former spokesman for the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), said if Samuel Anyangwu wins the Supreme Court, it will be the end of the party.
Naija News reports that Senator Anyanwu is challenging Udeokoye’s approval on Sunday as party’s national chief.
Speaking to Alice News on Tuesday, Ologundiyan said the party recognized Ude Okoy as the state chief.
He noted that party chairs Iliya Damagum and Ude-Okoye notified the Independent National Election Commission (INEC) that Ude-Okoye is the party‘s Secretary of State.
“The party has already decided who the Secretary of State is. The party has written to the INEC to identify Ude Okoi as his Secretary of State and the fact that he has never had an enforcement stay on this issue indicates that Ude Okoi is the responsibility to continue to function as Secretary of State. If the Supreme Court decides on the part of Senator Samuel Anayanwu, what will the party do? I’m not looking, I don’t want to jump before the Supreme Court decision.
“We wait and see what the legal justice says, but I think it’s the responsibility of all political parties to choose who their leader is in this situation. It clearly shows a certain direction,” he said.
He emphasized that opposing rulings would destroy the party’s foundations and structure. He added that the ruling in favour of Anyanwu means that All Progressives Congress (APC) has acquired major opposition parties through Nyesom Wike’s Federal Metropolitan Minister (FCT).
“Well, I pray, I hope it doesn’t happen because if it happens, it affects the democratic foundations of people. That is, it’s the foundation of the structure of PDP. The party is made up of people. And when the majority of the members are on his side. And the judgment goes back and the judgement is made on the minority side. You can imagine what will happen.
“That naturally means the final. I mean in every sense in the final sense of the people’s Democrats for all progressive Congress by FCT Minister Nyesom Wike. That would be the end of the party,” he said.
