Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State has vowed to play a key role in choosing his successor when his term ends in 2027.

He emphasized the importance of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in this process, noting that party dynamics play a key role in shaping the final decision.
“As the current leader of the party in Oyo State, I will be involved in the discussions and deliberations that will guide our choices,” he added.
The Governor spoke about the Commission Report on the Review and Update of State Civil Service Rules and Other Regulations submitted to the Governor, which continues to build on the legacy of innovation in state civil service operations by moving from manual to digital processes. He therefore assured the Committee that it would constitute a technical committee to work on the implementation and operationalization of the recommendations.
Earlier, while submitting the report and recommendations, the Chairman of the Committee, former Service Director and State Chairman, Governor Adebisi Adesola, said that if the recommendations were adopted and implemented, they would be in line with the highest standards in the world.
