Primal Code Details:
It begins with a roar and ends with devastation. Primal Code is a death metal bulldozer on a mission to flatten the world.
Formed in Chicago, Illinois in 2021, this stalwart trio has quickly transformed into one of the heaviest and most distinctive bands in the modern death metal scene. Vocalist/guitarist Gene Marino, bassist Will Lindsay (ex-Indian/Midian), and drummer James Fearn, who are about to release their debut album, have always been determined to carve their own path in the underground.
“It started with us getting into Bolt Thrower and a lot of bands didn’t have the same vibe. ‘Slow Whiplash’ was the first term we used often. did. Being a three-piece is also a big part of what we’re aiming for. Less is always more. ”
For those craving the esoteric magic of old school death metal, Primal Code already speaks your language. Inspired by the grotesque greats of the ’90s, from Death and Obituary to Napalm Death and Skinless, the Chicago trio has created something unique and refreshingly dirty. After one demo, one EP (2023’s Subliminal Master), and a split release with thrashcore crew The Gavel, they signed with esteemed underground label Relapse Records to release their first full-length album. Production has started.
And this is “opaque fixed”. An exhilarating and remarkable debut, Primal Code slams a new blueprint for hideous aggression, crushing everything in its path with combative, mid-paced brutality. Recorded at Bricktop Studios in their hometown, wild hymns like Anapsid, Totem, and Extinction feature strong production, dazzling artwork by Chicago tattooist Dan Gardea, and hilariously twisted, heartfelt songs. The expansive lyrics give the old school spirit a shocking dose of cutting-edge ferocity. Deep inside Gene Marino’s brain.
Newly signed to esteemed underground label Relapse Records, Primal Chord cut deep and create the most disruptive death metal possible. An avalanche of riffs from the mean streets of Chicago delivered straight to your door. An opaque fixation is coming to destroy the place. Let’s get ready. – Dom Lawson
