Live versions of “Astronaut” and “Head Over Heels” are available now
Iconic British duo Tears for Fears debut their new song ‘Astronaut’ alongside a live version of their hit single ‘Head Over Heels’. The album includes four new studio tracks, including “Astronaut” and the previously released song “The Girl That I Call Home.”
“‘Astronaut’ started during the ‘Tipping Point’ sessions,” Kurt Smith recalls. “After I realized that I would end up writing at least one new song for this album, Roland sent me the original recording of ‘Astronaut,’ and I had forgotten how great it was. Released. It’s a terrible comparison, but it’s nice to take a breather and drift off between courses. Pardon the pun, but that’s the feeling this song has.”
Smith continued, “Emotionally, it’s about a guy who doesn’t feel like he belongs here and wants to be an astronaut out in space…A lot of people relate to that feeling in that song, that feeling of alienation. I empathize.”
To accompany the album, the duo released a stunning concert film shot and recorded at the scenic First Bank Amphitheater at Greystone Quarry in Franklin, Tennessee, during Part 2 of the duo’s sold-out worldwide Tipping Point Tour. will be shown to a worldwide fan base. Tears for Fears Live (A Tipping Point Film) will be shown in more than 1,100 theaters worldwide through Trafalgar Releasing on October 24th and October 26th.
Across the album’s 22 tracks, Songs For A Nervous Planet highlights the set list from The Tipping Point Tour and the band’s transcendent live performances as they travel beyond. The four new songs expand on a career-spanning setlist, covering love, loneliness, mental health and escapism.
Recorded at the same time as the live album, ‘Tears For Fears Live (A Tipping Point Film)’ features the band’s iconic hits including ‘Everybody Wants To Rule The World’, ‘Shout’ and ‘Sowing The Seeds Of Love’. Many of the songs are included. This is The Tipping Point’s first album in 17 years, featuring new fan favorites such as “Mad World” and “Head Over Heels.” The film deftly spotlights the duo’s enduring power and their excellent touring backing band, who continue to perform at the height of glorious creativity in the 21st century.
