For die-hard fans of Michael Bublé, “The Best of Bublé” celebrates the Canadian singer’s best work and includes several previously unreleased songs.
Buble rose to fame in the early 2000s for his ability to take classic songs from the worlds of jazz, blues and the Great American Songbook and make them his own through his angelic, controlled tone of voice. He was also quickly praised for his original hits, many of which are included on this album: “Home,” “Haven’t Met You Yet,” and “Everything.”
But this greatest hits collection does more than just rehash the past. The Best of Bublé includes new songs and two previously unreleased songs, demonstrating his breadth and flexible approach to genres.
“Don’t Blame It On Me” brings out Bublé’s playful side. Beneath his voice are lively horns, handclaps, and acoustic guitars that fill the room, and his dancing is absolutely impossible to listen to without smiling.
“Quiz, Quiz, Quiz,” a cover of the Cuban classic written by Osvaldo Juárez and made famous by Bobby Capo, allows Bublé to perform in Spanish.
These songs, placed next to his most famous songs, make “The Best of Bublé” the perfect present for his die-hard fans who want to get acquainted with his special talents. This is an accelerated intensive course for beginners.
The Best of Bublé is a beautiful nostalgic journey, best reminiscing about times past while sipping a dirty martini in an Art Nouveau bar. His bossa nova takes listeners on a journey.
The only thing missing from this release, and the only thing that would give us a real insight into his career, would be some of his Christmas songs. After all, he is the King of Christmas, a role second only to Mariah Carey. But holiday spirit aside, “The Best of Bublé” is a fun catalog of modern classical voices that you’ll want to keep under your tree.
