Warner Music Group has made two key appointments in recorded music leadership as part of its continued transformation of its recorded music business.
Eric Wong has been named President and Head of Global A&R for Recorded Music at East West Records.
Jessica Keeley Carter has been promoted to chief marketing officer for recorded music.
Both will report directly to WMG CEO Robert Kyncl.
Mr. Wong will lead East West Records in his new post. Described by WMG as a “renowned name” in the company’s history, it now serves as a “connector across the company’s global ecosystem” to discover “local talent with global potential.” He says he is fulfilling his role. .
WMG announced on Monday, October 7, that Wong will also help sign and develop artists “while working with the company’s star roster to foster career-building collaborations and creative opportunities.”
Meanwhile, Ms. Keeley-Carter most recently served as vice president of global marketing for WMG. As CMO, WMG says she will “drive the continued evolution” of the company’s “global, regional and local marketing services for recording talent.”
These appointments follow the restructuring of WMG’s recorded music business announced in August.
The company has introduced what it calls a “flatter regional structure, backed by enhanced global services, to create a more direct channel between local expertise and global opportunities.”
The music giant announced in August that global CEO of Recorded Music, Max Lozada, will be stepping down at the end of September after eight successful years and a 20-year tenure at WMG. (He will remain as an advisor to WMG until January 31, 2025).
Lozada’s departure from WMG comes alongside other notable changes in Major’s senior ranks, with colleagues Julie Greenwald and Kevin Lyles also leaving Warner Music Group at the end of September.
Elsewhere in the global reorganization of Warner’s organizational structure, 10K Projects founder Elliott Grainge announced on Oct. 1 that he would be joining Atlantic Music, home of Atlantic Records and 300 Elektra Entertainment. Appointed CEO of the group. AMG’s new management team and broader corporate structure were revealed on Monday 23 September.
Eric Wong has been the Chief Marketing Officer of WMG Recorded Music since 2020.
He joins the company after nearly a decade at Universal Music Group, where he held positions including chief operating officer of Island Records and head of label operations, strategy and marketing.
Wong’s appointment to WMG marks a return to the company, where he previously served as senior vice president of marketing at Atlantic Records.
Jessica Keeley Carter joined WMG in 2019 as Senior Vice President of Global Marketing and was promoted to Vice President in 2022, working closely with Marketing Leads to execute regional marketing services across Latin America, Asia, and EMEA .
Prior to joining WMG, he oversaw EMEA commercial label partnerships at Meta and before that spent eight years at Universal Music Group.
