The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Bayelsa State has revoked the suspension of the Minister for Petroleum (Petroleum), Senator Heineken Lokpobiri and several other party leaders.
The decision was taken after an expanded meeting attended by the state executive committee, party state legislators and local government leaders.
The main focus of the meeting was to address the internal crisis caused by the suspension of key stakeholders in Southern Ijaw, Ekeremole, Sagbama and Yenagoa Local Government Areas.
Those suspended so far have included prominent figures such as Senator Heineken Lokpovili and party leader David Ryan, a former gubernatorial candidate in the 2019 election.
The communiqué was released after a press conference held at the APC Secretariat in Yenagoa on October 15.
The statement, signed by State Speaker Dennis Otiotio-Odoni and Acting Secretary of State Outuamo Tamarampure, said the suspension was revoked following a request from the Bayelsa State House of Assembly Minority Caucus and thorough discussions within the party. I confirmed that.
The communique outlines the party’s decision to postpone ratification of the moratorium to allow for additional consultations with key stakeholders, following a recommendation from the APC caucus in the state House of Assembly.
Additionally, the Extended Executive Committee and the APC General Assembly Presidium have expressed concern over the recent actions of the Bayelsa Commissioner for Power, Karin Kumoku, who reportedly led a group of individuals to attack the APC state secretariat. denounced.
The party called on Governor Dowe Diri to address the matter by alerting the Commissioner and called on both Police Commissioner Francis A. Idu and the DSS Provincial Secretary to investigate the incident.
Bayelsa APC underlined its commitment to democratic values and expressed its intention to resolve the dispute through constructive dialogue.
