The All Progressives Congress (APC) has called on the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to stop dragging itself into internal party woes and focus on its own agenda.
The APC stated this in reaction to allegations that the ruling party is using Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister Nyesom Wike to destroy the PDP.
Naija News recalls that the media aide to PDP’s 2023 presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, Mr. Paul Ibe, made this assertion during an interview on Channels Television on Monday.
He accused the APC and the Presidency of using Wike to destroy the PDP and other opposition parties.
Reacting, however, APC’s national public relations director, Bala Ibrahim, denied claims that Wike was following the orders of APC.
He also called on the PDP to summon Wike and question him directly if they have any issues with him as the minister is still a member of the opposition party.
Ibrahim said the PDP’s problems were internal, adding that the party should look inward and stop blaming others for its challenges.
When I spoke to Mr. Punch, he said, “Wike is not a member of APC and has not publicly stated that he dances to APC music.” He does not deny the fact that he is a PDP cardholder.
“Then why are they trying to attribute to Wike what he could not attribute to himself? Mr. Wike is trying to claim that he is under telephone inducement, that he is being called to the APC to carry out the party’s orders. They didn’t say they were being taken advantage of. Are they afraid to call a spade a spade by confronting him directly and asking him the questions they are asking others?
“These questions should be directed at Wike. The PDP is running away from the task at hand. The APC has better things to do than subjugate Wike to do its bidding. He is a man of his own. He has been a governor, a lawyer, and now a minister.
“Even if an alliance is formed, it will be between willing parties. Don’t run away from the fact that the problem is internal. These are the people who have problems within the party. They is throwing the ball in the wrong court.”
