The 2024 Austin City Limits Music Festival has opened in Austin.
AUSTIN, Texas – Musicians are, of course, the talk of the Austin City Limits Music Festival.
“I’m most excited about Blink-182. Foster the People is my No. 1 player,” said ACL participant Sabrina Smith.
Some people can’t wait to reunite with old friends this weekend.
“I’m excited just to play with my best friends,” said ACL participant Kate Getzinger.
Participants say the people and music remind them of us.
“I come every year,” Smith said.

Austin public safety officials shared expert advice on how to protect yourself and your belongings when attending large events.
This year also marks a big anniversary for the festival’s namesake group.
Fifty years ago, Austin City Limits TV filmed a pilot episode starring Willie Nelson on Austin PBS. The program was named after the 2002 festival.
A lot has changed since then: the size of the stage, the types of artists, and especially the prices.
Tickets for a 2004 report archived by FOX 7 Austin were about $88.50 for three days and $40 for one day.
“Oh, that’s insane,” Smith said.
Currently, a three-day pass costs between $300 and $400.

“If you’re going to listen to music for three whole days, that’s a bargain, right?” said first-time festival attendee Dylan Meyer.
Although prices have increased significantly compared to 20 years ago, they are still well worth the price for music lovers.
“I’m excited,” Meyer said. “I haven’t been to a music festival in Texas yet.”
“It’s energy,” Smith said. “Having a view of the skyline in the background is what makes it different in Austin. The people are always so genuine and fun. It’s a great place to connect with people and have a good time.”
If you’re visiting this weekend, be sure to drink plenty of water and bring an empty water bottle to refill.
Temperatures could reach 90 degrees both Saturday and Sunday.
