U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) released its latest report on Tuesday, showing that nearly 1.4 million immigrants will become legal within two years under two controversial Biden-Harris administration programs. The number of illegal immigrants who were allowed to enter the country remained at a low level until September. .
In what is likely to be the last monthly update before Election Day, CBP removed its fiscal year 2024 operational statistics on Tuesday, which includes the September 2024 monthly operational update.
“During fiscal year 2024, CBP significantly increased enforcement efforts and achieved significant reductions in the number of encounters at the Southwest border,” said Troy A. Miller, senior official performing the duties of the Director. Ta. “CBP continues to identify and respond to emerging threats posed by transnational criminal organizations that profit from exploiting vulnerable populations, and is taking unprecedented steps to dismantle and disrupt these operations. We have stepped up our enforcement efforts to further crackdown on illegal opioid smuggling.”Introducing new measures to disrupt the supply chain of deadly drugs, including fentanyl. ”
The report found that thanks to the proclamation President Biden issued on June 5 to secure the southern border, “illegal border crossings have decreased significantly, with encounters between ports of entry along the Southwest border decreasing by 55%. “It has decreased by more than 20%.”

CBP also said in the report that the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) removed or returned more than 160,000 individuals in more than 145 countries from June 5 to the end of September. The report noted that during the same period, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) operated more than 495 international deportation flights.
CBP also promoted CBP One, a government mobile app for migrants seeking asylum at the southern border. The same app has come under scrutiny for not vetting immigrants.

Specifically, the program has processed over 111,000 Cubans, approximately 214,000 Haitians, over 96,000 Nicaraguans, and approximately 121,000 Venezuelans.
The program was first implemented for Venezuelans in October 2022 and expanded to other nationalities in January 2023. It was part of the Biden-Harris administration’s expansion of “legal channels” to address the border crisis.
The plan has been fiercely opposed by Republicans, some of whom have described the administration as running migrant flights, but under the plan, migrants would have to arrange their own travel. Must be. Republicans argued that the system is an abuse of parole, which is limited to case-by-case parole for urgent humanitarian reasons or vital public interest.
Earlier this month, the Biden-Harris administration announced it would not extend the legal status of hundreds of thousands of immigrants who came to the United States through the CHNV program, which was suspended earlier this year due to revelations of fraud.

“For months, the Biden-Harris administration worked with a bipartisan group of senators to craft a historic bipartisan border security agreement that would add thousands of frontline workers to the border. But Congressional Republicans twice voted against that deal, proving they’re more secure, “more interested in playing cynical politics than securing the border,” he said. . “The Biden-Harris administration has taken effective action, but Republican officials continue to do nothing.”
