Billboard announced that Coldplay's 10th album, Moon Music, debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 album chart, becoming the band’s fifth No. 1 album in the United States. This is more than any other British solo act or group this century.
The album earned 120,000 equivalent album units, giving Coldplay their highest US opening week total since 2015’s A Head Full of Dreams and 2014’s Ghost Stories. It became the first song to reach No. 1 on the Billboard 200 since then.

More than 106,000 of Moon Music’s total Billboard sales come from album sales, underscoring the popularity of the innovative approach the band has taken to make the physical release of albums as sustainable as possible. I am.
This record is the world’s first album to be released as a 140g EcoRecord rPET LP, with each copy made from nine recycled PET bottles recovered from post-consumer waste. Additionally, the band collaborated with The Ocean Cleanup to create the Notebook Edition LP. rPET contains 70% riverine plastic and was collected by The Ocean Cleanup from Rio Las Bacas, Guatemala. The standard CD version of Moon Music is also the world’s first product to be released in EcoCD, made from 90% recycled polycarbonate sourced from the post-consumer waste stream.
In a further effort to reduce waste, the first editions of the albums (both EcoRecord LP and EcoCD) will be strictly limited in production and produced to higher specifications than any future editions. All first edition EcoRecord LP products are individually numbered.
Moon Music also topped the UK’s Official Album Chart, surpassing the rest of the Top 40 combined, with first week sales of 237,000 copies being the group’s highest since One Direction in 2013. This also made Coldplay the first group to do so. Since 2016, it has topped the US and UK album charts simultaneously. The new album also topped the official charts in countries such as Belgium, Germany, Ireland, Italy, the Netherlands, Norway, and Sweden.
