A member of the House of Representatives, Imo Ugotinyere, has accused Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Chairman Elijah Damagumu and Secretary Samuel Anyanwu of betraying the party respectively.
The PDP lawmaker representing Ideato North-South Constituency in Imo State accused Damagum and Anyanwu of having secret meetings with the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) government.
He claimed that with Mr. Ilya Damagumu and Senator Samuel Anyanwu, the demise of the PDP would be a shame. He called on PDP officials to unite to save the party.
In a short statement on Friday using his handle X, Ugotinyere called for the immediate dismissal of Damagum’s leadership.
“If the national chairman or secretary of a political party meets secretly with the ruling government, they will know that unless they stand up and drive out the political outlaws, irreparable destruction awaits that party.
“Now they want to formally hand over the PDP to the APC without shame for a pot of porridge. If we do not stop these shameless political traitors, the ANPP, AD final The story will be better than PDP,” he said.
Naija News reports that the party’s National Executive Council (NEC) meeting has been called off in what some observers say is linked to demands from the North Central caucus.
North Central has called on Damagum to abandon his desire to contest for the position of national chairman of the party. They insisted that the party chairman should be from the region.
