“Death Makes Fun of Us” is the new single from Daydream Three’s (Sicilian Enzo Pepi’s solo project) third album Stop Making Noise, due out on vinyl on November 8, 2024. It will be released digitally. Music video created by artist Elaine Carmen Bonsang.
All songs on “Stop Making Noise” were composed by Enzo Pepi. The rhythm section is composed of two musicians with great experience and artistic maturity: Vincenzo Arisco on drums and Alessandro Formica on bass (who has accompanied Pepi live since his first album). (same rhythm section).
Stop Making Noise was recorded in the summer of 2023 at Arsonica in Syracuse. As with the previous two albums, sound engineer Carlo Barbagallo was behind the mixer for this album as well, handling not only the recording and mixing but also the mastering.
Discussing “Death Taunts Us,” Pepi says:
“The idea to write about death came to me after hearing and reading about several crime novels. One thing that struck me was that these stories had one thing in common: There’s clearly a lack of reason or logic behind it. Those people were on their way to work, on their way to go shopping, or on their way to meet a friend. They had dreams and plans, and then all of a sudden. , everything was swept away by a senseless death that lacked logic. So I wanted to portray death as an evil, sadistic monster who takes lives just for entertainment.”

Regarding the music video, Bonsang added:
“Death is always spectacular, and the moment we have to go on stage, we already put on a death mask and move forward. In this video, we want to draw a simple parallel between death and art. Both represent an encounter with the unknown, a kind of transformation. The artistic process can be seen as a small death, an orgasmic moment oscillating between Eros and Thanatos, creation and destruction.
“Like intercourse being interrupted, art stops short of its completion, leaving us in limbo between the desire for immortality and the recognition of mortality. It is this continuous tension that creates the artistic experience. They are what life is and what makes them deeply human…until we are mocked like clowns with banana peels!”
