On August 31, at her final performance in Munich, British singer-songwriter Adele announced she would be taking an “incredibly long” break after her Weekend With Adele residency ends in November. did. Although she became emotional during her speech, she explained that she wanted to focus on her personal life, including her engagement to longtime partner Rich Paul and their 11-year-old son, and also expressed her desire to start a family. She confirmed her intention to take a hiatus, saying, “I’ve spent the last seven years building a new life for myself, and now I want to live it.”
In an interview with German broadcaster ZDF, Adele revealed that she has “no plans for new music at all.” But her break is well-deserved. Her concert residency is scheduled to begin on November 18, 2022 and end on November 23 of this year. Additionally, her albums usually have long gaps between releases. Her albums 25 (featuring the hits “Hello,” “Send My Love (To Your New Lover),” “When We Were Young,” and “Water Under the Bridge”) and 30 (with the smash hit “Easy On Me”) ) were released six years apart.
Instead of touring for her latest album, she stayed in Las Vegas. The event was originally scheduled to begin in January 2022, but was postponed due to the impact of the new coronavirus infection (COVID-19). However, Adele later admitted that it was because her “artistic needs” were not being met. Before her residency began, she mentioned the possibility of pursuing a degree in English literature or pursuing a career in acting. She also said that she may tour again after her next album, although she is in no rush.
Despite the disappointing news for fans, it’s clear that Adele is ready to focus on her personal life. After almost three years there, she was ready to live her life the way she wanted. Regardless of how long she’ll be gone, it’s unknown, but when she chooses to return, that’s when she’s at her best. So far, big gaps between projects haven’t stopped her from producing masterpieces, so there’s no reason for another hiatus to ruin her winning streak.
