Veteran publisher and politician, Mr Dele Momodu has described the crisis between the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Nyesom Wike and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as embarrassing.
He also acknowledged Wike’s past contributions to the PDP, saying the relationship between the two parties was delicate.
But Momodu told Wike in an interview with Arise TV on Tuesday that he would focus on his new role as FCT minister and stop dragging out issues with the PDP and his estranged godson, Rivers State Governor Siminalai Hubara. I advised him to do so.
The veteran publisher says that if he had the power, he would have fired Wike long ago.
“The crux of the matter is that one of their former colleagues, who is currently a minister in the FCT, was working for the APC in government and they were trying to control him,” Momodu explained. .
He said no one could have predicted the rift between Wike and Hubara, adding: “No one expected there to be any problems between the godfather and the godson.”
Momodu added that Wike should have completely withdrawn following President Bola Tinubu’s intervention.
“If I were in Nyesom Wike’s shoes, I would have expected him to back down the moment the president actively intervened.
“I don’t think anyone came back to rule him when Wike was governor,” he said.
Mr Momodu claimed that he has been in touch with Mr Wike regarding incidents and disagreements, but if things continue the way things are going, either the minister will kill the PDP or the party will get rid of him.
“I’ve written him a lot of letters over the last two years, warning him about what was going to happen, because I’m good at studying history.”
“Either he kills the PDP or the PDP is eliminated.
“If I had the power, I would have sacked Wike long ago, but I don’t have that power… because the embarrassment for our party is unprecedented,” Modu submitted.
