Nasir El Rufai, a nearby governor in Kaduna, met on Saturday with the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) State Executive Committee (PDP), which is considered a serious political move.
Naija News understands that El-Rufai, accompanied by former Chief of Staff Bashir Saidu, has deteriorated in relation to All Progressives Congress (APC) over the past few months.
President Bora Tinubu nominated him for the appointment of a minister, but his appointment was rejected by the Parliament due to security concerns.
Despite the fallout, El Rufai claims he supports Tinubu’s presidential campaign and says he has moved out of past complaints.
Political analysts have speculated about the importance of meetings with PDP leaders, and have raised doubts about whether El-Rufai is considering leaving ahead of the 2027 election.
At the time of submission of this report, details of the meeting have not been revealed by the former governor or PDP leader.
