Former Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Timi Frank, has said that the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Mr. Kayode Egbetokun, and the Federal Capital Territory Minister, Mr. Nyesom Wike, should be held responsible for the insurgency in Rivers State. He said that.
In a statement issued in Abuja on Tuesday, Mr. Frank accused Mr. Wike and Mr. Egbetokun of complicity in the recent arson attack on two local council secretariats in Rivers State.
He conveyed his condolences to Governor Siminaray Hubala.
He called for the resignation of the IGP and Wike, saying the two must be held accountable for the violence in the state.
Mr Frank praised President Bola Tinubu’s directive for police intervention, but criticized the response as “too slow” and biased in favor of Mr Wike.
He alleged that the FCT Minister has been boasting that he is beholden to Tinubu who wreaks havoc in Rivers.
“Wike has boasted that he has the president’s blessing to destabilize Governor Hubala’s administration.
“It is very unfortunate that the President is being perceived as tacitly encouraging ministers to cause mayhem in Rivers State because he thinks it will benefit him in 2027, but this It has to stop.
“Enough is enough. Wike and the Inspector General of Police must go. They must be held accountable for this arson. The perpetrators must be arrested and brought to justice.
“All patriotic Nigerians, including former presidents and trade union leaders, must speak out to save Rivers State and its oil facilities from destruction by these arsonists.
“President Tinubu must act as the Commander-in-Chief of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and not as the Commander-in-Chief of the All Progressives Congress or its political stooges.
“The President took an oath to carry out his duties as President without fear or favor, but today it is clear that he has sided with Wike against Rivers’ people,” Frank said.
