The Peoples Democratic Governors Forum (PDP-GF) has issued a strong disclaimer refuting reports that the party chairman or his associates have filed a lawsuit against the party in Gusau, Zamfara State.
Naija News reports that the denial was made public in a statement issued by the PDP-GF Secretary General Dr. Emmanuel Agbo from Abuja on Tuesday.
Recall that there were reports that persons associated with the Bauchi governor had applied to the Federal High Court in Gusau for an interim injunction compelling the PDP to convene the National Executive Council meeting as scheduled. However, the court rejected this request.
It is noteworthy that last week, PDP governors called on members involved in lawsuits against the party to withdraw in order to facilitate reconciliation.
Dr. Agbo clarified that “the attention of the PDP Governors Forum led by Bauchi State Governor, Senator Bala Mohammed and all member governors of the forum has been focused on an online report alleged by the Bauchi State Governor.” said. The governor and the Chairman of the PDP Governors Forum have filed a suit at the Federal High Court in Gusau seeking an ex parte order compelling the convening of the National Executive Council (NEC) meeting of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
“We categorically state that neither the Chairman of the PDP Governors Forum nor his representatives have anything to do with the litigation referred to.
“Let me emphasize that our legions of supporters and all Nigerians are urged to ignore the false allegation that the Chairman of the Forum or any of its members has instigated legal proceedings regarding the above. Masu.”
The statement called on supporters and the general public to ignore the false claims, calling the report “questionable, malicious and aimed at tarnishing the image of Governor Bala Mohammed.”
In a related development, the Federal High Court in Abuja recently granted an injunction restraining the PDP National Executive Committee (NEC) and Board of Directors (BoT) from removing the Acting National Chairman, Mr. Amb. Umar Damagum’s term ends in December 2025 following a lawsuit filed by party members in his home state of Yobe.
