Hosted by radio DJ, writer, podcaster and music analyst Alejandro Marin, together they offered a perspective on the Colombian star’s rise to the top. The best quote is:
“The most special thing for me is to come to work with the same enthusiasm as if it were my first day. I don’t like to just wait,” Feed said. “There are many of us who are part of the team. We dreamed of everything we are accomplishing and it has been a daily process. Every day we try to be better than yesterday in every way. I try to live intensely in the present and that helps us stay alert.”
He talked about how he started as a composer from home and how his team gradually grew. “In the beginning we were 1, 2, 3, 4 years old, and now we are 140 years old. “We’re focusing on that,” he said. The musician also talked about traveling to Europe, performing in front of just six people in a nightclub, and how he persevered despite the challenges. “I have a very interesting theory, which is that we are always celebrating victories, even though they may be boring at times,” Fayed said.
“We broke records in Colombia when we opened for Karol on the Bichota tour in Bogotá and Cali, but when we started on the West Coast we had to manage an audience that had no idea who we were. I had to learn how,” Fayed continued. “In some way, this has broadened our perspective on how touring in the U.S. and Europe is managed and how to navigate those worlds.”
“There’s a secret magic to our team, including executives and everyone involved in every aspect of recording, lighting, screens, sound, etc.,” said manager Villamizar.
Schaefer said of Fayed’s most important attributes: “Be patient, hard-working, have a lot of empathy, be optimistic, and be someone who accepts failure not as a bad thing, but as a way to change and adjust. The set list wasn’t perfect, and we needed to adjust. I always believe that after success comes money. Money doesn’t solve everything. It’s something.”
Over the past 35 years, Latin Music Week has become the only steady foundation for Latin music in this country, and the single most important and largest gathering of Latin artists and industry executives from around the world. Originally named the Billboard-sponsored Latin Music Seminar, the event dates back to 1990 and began as a one-day event in Miami featuring a showcase of two artists and an awards ceremony.
Latin Music Week will coincide with the 2024 Billboard Latin Music Awards, scheduled to air on Sunday, October 20th at 9pm ET on Telemundo. The service will be available simultaneously on the Universo, Peacock and Telemundo apps, and in Latin America and the Caribbean through Telemundo Internacional.
