Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) National Reconciliation Committee, Olagunsoye Oyinlola, has dismissed claims that the party plans to suspend Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister Nyesom Wike and other members. .
Naija News understands that the rumored suspension stems from allegations that Mr Wike and three former governors worked against the PDP during the 2023 general elections.
Mr Oyinlola, speaking after a meeting with members of parliament on Monday, characterized the speculation as mere rumour.
“Pending Tuesday’s meeting with the National Working Committee (NWC), we consider Mr Wike’s suspension to be just a rumor,” he said.
Mr Oyinlola, a former Osun State governor, explained that the meeting with the members was focused on understanding the political challenges facing the party and finding ways to reinvigorate the party’s fortunes.
“We had fruitful discussions and received valuable suggestions on how to unite the party and make it a formidable force again.”
He stressed that unity is essential for the party’s success, adding: “For any political party to go into battle and win, it must come together.” That’s our goal. ”
Oyinlola also disclosed that the Reconciliation Commission had completed a tour of the South-West region where the party is strategizing ahead of the Ondo State governorship election scheduled for November 16.
However, he declined to reveal his specific strategy, saying, “As a general with 30 years of experience, if you want to win a war, you don’t reveal your strategy publicly.”
