Timothy Osadorol, the deputy youth leader of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), described Nasir El-Rufai’s asylum to the Social Democrats (SDP) as a politically false calculation.
Naija News previously reported that the former governor of Kaduna on Monday announced asylum from all Progressive Congress (APC) to the Social Democrats (SDP).
In an interview with Punch, Osadorol argued that El Rufai’s height and influence politicians should join the PDP, which he described as Nigeria’s most powerful opposition party.

Osadolor pointed out that El-Rufai’s departure from the APC highlights the deep-seated issue within the ruling party.
He said, “El Rufai’s exile from the APC further confirms the issues within the ruling party. He is a key stakeholder of northwest politics.”
He acknowledged that former Governor Kaduna was a powerful political strategist and a valuable asset.
A PDP official further said, “He is a great strategist and a valuable asset that a powerful political party hopes for.”
However, Osadolor claimed that El-Rufai made the wrong choice by joining SDP, claiming that PDP remains the most reliable platform for challenging APCs.
He said, “The PDP platform is Nigeria’s most trusted and viable opposition party, maintaining all the reach it needs to challenge the APC.”
