In an interview on Aries TV’s “Newsnight” program, Mr. Jacob acknowledged that the governors of each state had taken positive steps, but that deeper issues such as extending the term of the acting national chairman, Ambassador Umar Damagum, were not addressed. He pointed out that it has not been resolved yet.
“Yes, the governors have intervened, but the core issues still persist. The party is dominated by different factions,” Jacob said, stressing the need for a more comprehensive resolution. did.
Jacob further criticized those who flout the party constitution, accusing them of destabilizing the PDP.
“It is unfortunate that people who ignore the party’s constitutional framework are contributing to the decline of the party,” he said.
He also lamented the inability of the PDP to fulfill its role as the main opposition party in the country and suggested that funding should come from the grassroots members of the party.
“Members need to pay their dues and contribute so that no one individual can dominate or control the party,” Jacob stressed.
