The Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC), Rivers State Command, has confirmed that 10 Hilux vans donated to the Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps by the Rivers State Governor, Mr. Siminarayi Hubala, have been transferred to the controversial police station which has just been terminated. It dealt with allegations that it was related to local government elections in the state.
Naija News understands that there was a trending video alleging that Mr Hubala provided a vehicle to the NSCDC to enable the police to provide security for the polls after the police withdrew from the election.
However, the NSCDC said this story is far from the truth.
Speaking on behalf of the state commander, Joatin Okafor, in Port Harcourt. Spokesperson of the command, Superintendent Olufemi Ayodele, explained that the new commander observed tradition and visited Tomihara City upon taking office.
Mr. Ayodele said Mr. Okafor had made achievements within seven days of his arrival in the state, adding that he was moved by the tenacity and tenacity shown by the commander in the fight against crude oil theft and that the governor had ordered 10 Hilux vans. He added that he had donated.
He said the van was designed to enhance operational efficiency of the NSCDC Rivers State Command and the event took place ahead of the conduct of local government elections.
“However, the command is aware of various baseless and defamatory statements currently circulating on social media alleging donation of operational vehicles as gratification or reward for participating in the just-concluded local government elections,” he said. I was shocked by the news.”
“To set the record straight, the operatives of the Rivers State Command were overwhelmed with great excitement and jubilation as seen in a video circulating on the internet. Transformation, progress, and significant accomplishments in less than a month.
“The Rivers State Command has confirmed that the vehicles were not donated for the elections nor were they compensation for participating in local government elections, but to enhance the command’s land operations patrols like other security agencies. He says he’s here.
“Our role during the last local government elections centered on regular patrols and protection of critical national assets and infrastructure in the state, based on intelligence reports at our disposal even before the elections took place. .
“These infrastructure and amenities were provided in support of the good people of Rivers State and should not be destroyed by hoodlums as it will also be detrimental to the economy of the country and the state.
“We therefore call on the media from various quarters to desist from making biased, unfounded and defamatory statements targeting the integrity of the Rivers State Commandant and by extension the NSCDC, and rather to tolerate best practices in the international media. We urge you to assimilate the available professional ethical standards and coaching regulations in social media publications and news reports.
“While NSCDC remains neutral, non-political and non-partisan with respect to elections, we remain committed to fulfilling our core mission by combating vandalism of public facilities and responding quickly to rescue victims in emergencies. We are working sincerely.”
