Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) North-Central (APC) Forum, Saleh Zazagha, has called on the party’s national chairman, Abdullahi Ganduje, to resign within seven days.
Mr Zazaga, who served as the stakeholder relations member of the Tinubu/Shettima Presidential Electoral Council, addressed the press on Tuesday in Jos, Plateau State.
He said he had written a formal letter to Ganduje explaining his reasons for asking him to resign.
He also said the seven-day ultimatum expires next Monday and legal action will be taken if necessary.
The APC leader said at the party’s national convention held on March 26, 2022 that the position of national chairman of the party was allocated to the North-Central geopolitical zone, while Ganduje hails from the North-West region. he claimed.
The party leader said Mr. Ganduje’s occupation of this office is in violation of Article 31.5(i) and (iv) of the 2022 APC Charter (as amended) and the party’s ratified zoning agreement that demarcated the national chairmanship. It was also pointed out that it was in violation. Location to the north-central region, especially Nasarawa State.
The letter read as follows: “I am a member and an ardent member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) (hereinafter referred to as the “Party”) registered in 2016. As an active and committed member of our great party, I have been appointed and will serve as a member of the Stakeholder Relations Tinubu/Shettima Presidential Election Council on December 11, 2022, to elect the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. He carried out an enthusiastic mission that led to. Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR and Vice Chairman;
“In preparation for the party’s national convention held on March 26, 2022, the party’s national chairmanship was allocated to the country’s North Central geopolitical zone, which was further subdivided into Nasarawa State. Recall that Senator Abdullahi Adamu from Nasarawa State was elected National Party Chairman for a four-year term.
“This is based on the ratification of the zoning arrangement by the National Congress to ensure that Party leadership positions are evenly distributed geographically, taking into account the interests of Party members and all geographical zones in the country. It was done.
“However, on August 3, 2023, the party violated Article 31.5 (i) and (iv) of the Constitution after Senator Abdullahi Adamu resigned as the party’s national chairman after just two years in office. 2022 ( (as amended), secretly appointed His Excellency Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje from the North-West Geopolitical Zone of the country, contrary to the party’s ratified delimitation agreement that placed the national chairmanship in the North Central Geopolitical Zone, particularly Nasarawa State.
“The appointment of Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje as the National Chairman of the Party was met with deep resentment and disappointment by party members, especially the North Central Geopolitical District and other organs of the party. It must be noted that it completely violated the provisions of the party, eradicated the principles of internal democracy that the party passionately defends, and abandoned the zoning agreement, thereby bringing the party into disrepute and further deepening resentment. This has created distrust and divisions among the party’s millions of members, impacting the party’s chances of winning elections in the North Central geopolitical zone and the country as a whole.
“This is apart from the fact that His Excellency Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje is on trial at the Kano State High Court on charges bordering on corruption.
“In view of the above, I call for the immediate resignation of Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje as the National Chairman of our great party.
“This is an opportunity to uphold all zoning agreements reached by the party to promote party unity and commitment, imbibing the principles of intra-party democracy guaranteed in the party constitution and the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. ” This increases the party’s chances of winning future elections in the country’s north-central geopolitical zone.
“Instead, I respectfully request His Excellency Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje to resign as the National Chairman of the party and allow the appointment of a fact-finding commission to investigate the matter in line with Article 21.3 of the 2022 APC Constitution. I will.”
“Please note that if you do not comply with the above options within 7 days of receiving this letter, I will have no choice but to invoke the full force of the law. I will not return to you. Do this.”
