Bayelsa Governor Sen. Due Dili has made it clear that the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) North and South Zone Conference has been postponed at the request of the regional governor.
Dili explained on Monday at the PDP Executive Council (SEC) meeting at the party secretariat of Yenagoa, that the assembly, which originally had a parliament set up on February 22, was postponed after four PDP governors from north and south notified the National Labor Commission (NWC) that the date was not appropriate.
He will dismiss a report suggesting that the parliament is already taking place in Calabar, the capital of Cross River, and make it clear that the party’s national leaders do not trust the claims and will soon announce a new date for the parliament.
Reassuring party members, Dili emphasized that the PDP remains strong and unified at Bayelsa and maintains its position as the dominant political force of the state.
“For those who are looking for 2027, if you’re looking for meaningful political involvement, PDP is your best option,” he said.
He urged members to ignore the divisive rumours and reaffirmed that the national leader would decide on a new date for the South-South Conference in collaboration with Zonal leaders.
Naija News recalls that Federal Capital Region Minister (FCT) Nyesom Wike, along with some party chiefs, held a sash meeting in Cross River State.
Wike and his allies elected Dan Osi Orbih as the party’s zone chair. This is a move that was rejected by the party’s national leaders.
