Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf departed Kano State on Tuesday amid a crisis affecting the ruling New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP).
It is noteworthy that Governor Yusuf facilitated a reconciliation meeting between the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Abdullahi Buffa Bichi, and the disgruntled constituency councilors on Monday night.
However, despite this effort, the party chose to suspend Mr. Bichi along with Transport Secretary Mohammad Digol on charges of abuse of power and dishonesty.
According to Daily Trust, Governor Yusuf spent about two hours at Malam Aminu Kano International Airport on Tuesday (today) before his flight to Abuja.
Naija News reports that this happened shortly after former Kano governor and NNPP leader, Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso entered the state.
It is noteworthy that Kwankwaso was in discussions with party supporters, Speaker of the House of Representatives Djibril Falgore, other political appointees and various local government officials on unspecified issues.
Previously, when asked by journalists to comment on the situation, he refused to respond and directed inquiries to the party chairman.
Concerns are growing among a faction of party loyalists and some opposition members about the “freedom” of Governor Yusuf, who is seen as a controlling influence by Kwankwaso, who is accused of indirectly controlling the state. is claimed.
The group claims that Mr. Kwankwaso oversees the administration of the government and dictates the actions to be taken. Through radio broadcasts and social media efforts, they urged Mr. Kwankwaso to allow the governor to discharge his responsibilities as the state executive.
