The Osun State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has called on the All Progressives Congress (APC) to extinguish the idea of a power play by Governor Ademola Adeleke.
The party has dismissed APC’s negative reaction to the overwhelming support for re-election recently received by Governor Ademola Adeleke, adding that this is the final kick to a dying horse.
In a statement signed by Chairman Sunday Bisi on Monday, the PDP said the Osun APC must get rid of its arrogance in not recognizing the will of the people in a democracy and no amount of abuse or innuendo will take away that fact. He declared that he could not. That the people of Osun firmly support Adeleke.
Mr. Bisi slammed the Osun APC for showing no remorse for the despair and distress caused by its mismanagement of state affairs and bad financial decisions.
He said, “It is unfortunate that the Osun APC is under the illusion that the people of Osun firmly support Governor Ademola Adeleke.” Osun APC’s irrational contestation of the will of the people is dangerous to our democracy and should be a concern to everyone.
“Contrary to the false assumptions of the Osun APC, Governor Adeleke has won approval for a second term due to his outstanding achievements in his first two years. On the infrastructure front, Governor Adeleke has supported the construction of new roads and bridges. It not only started but also completed some constructions that the previous APC government had abandoned.
“If there is any honor left in Osun APC, it is right to acknowledge it, but I suspect they are very ashamed and want to distance themselves from the public. , they are wrong because the truth of their failures in office cannot be hidden and the people are well aware of how hard Governor Adeleke is working to rectify the mess.”
Mr. Bisi noted that Osun APC is wrong to think that the people will return to power those who have abandoned welfare and failed miserably in infrastructure development in the state.
“Under the APC, promotions were done but the financial aspects were neglected. Governor Adeleke also came and not only implemented the economic impact of the promotions but also gave cashbacks to pensioners. Similarly, more bonds were issued in two years than in the 12 years of APC in Osun.
“Nevertheless, Osun APC wonders why the people are supporting the re-election of Governor Adeleke. Barring delusion, the reasons are clear and only those who want Osun to retreat would do otherwise. “I guess,” he added.
