On Saturday, November 2nd, the Inmaculata Symphony Orchestra will hold its fall concert “Brahms Collection” at Inmaculata’s Alumni Hall starting at 7:30 p.m. Immaculata Symphony is a university and community organization with a long and distinguished tradition dating back to the university’s founding in 1920.
The fall concert begins with the famous snare drum roll of Gioachino Rossini’s operatic masterpiece “The Thief Magpie Overture,” full of catchy and witty melodies. The concert will also feature piano soloist Stephen Campitelli performing Dimitri Shostakovich’s charming and busy Piano Concerto No. 2. The highlight of the concert is the magic of Johannes Brahms, who performs a collection of movements from his four symphonies in a truly unique way.
Music director Josef Göring MM will conduct the orchestra for this performance. Goering is the dean of Immaculata University’s music department, where he serves as assistant professor and ensemble director. Göring has been involved with the Immaculata Symphony Orchestra since 2004 and was appointed music director in 2011. In addition to his role with Inmaculata, he also serves as musical director of the West Chester Band and is a member of the Chesco Pops Orchestra. Gehring frequently conducts various honor bands and festival bands throughout Pennsylvania and Delaware.
Admission to the fall concert is $15 for the general public and $12 for seniors. Tickets can be purchased the night of the event or online at Immaculata Symphony Orchestra.
