The Labor Party (LP) has accused President Bola Tinubu’s All Progressives Congress (APC) government of inflicting hardship on Nigerians.
The party, through its National Publicity Secretary, Obiola Ifor, submitted that it is the ideology of the APC that is causing the difficulty.
In an interview with Punch published on Thursday, Ifor said President Tinubu promised to continue where former President Muhammadu Buhari left off, adding that the reality he spoke of is the pain Nigerians are currently experiencing. He said that he was in poverty.
He lamented that many Nigerians are unable to eat properly, pay for medical bills and purchase other basic necessities due to the current government’s harsh policies.
The LP spokesperson made the submission in response to a question on the validity of the proposal to the Tinubu administration seeking assistance from former President Goodluck Jonathan to stabilize the economy and currency.
In response, Ifor said: "It's not about asking for help. It’s about the ideology of the party. Ideology is about creating difficulties. This ideology is, as this current president said, to continue where the previous president left off. It is about the pain and misery they are trying to inflict on Nigeria and they are succeeding.
“At this rate, we don’t know what Nigeria will be like in the next three years. At this rate, people won’t be able to pay their medical bills and won’t even be able to eat. Every day, taxes are increasing. And they want to achieve We’re seeing school dropout rates. So it’s not about being stubborn.”
